History of Bridge Preparatory Charter School: A Learning Differences School
Bridge Preparatory Charter School opened in September 2019. We are the first and only public school in New York State to accommodate students with learning differences, making us one of the best schools for dyslexia. Students with learning differences require inclusive, personalized courses, and Bridge Preparatory Charter School wants to fill this gap through free, accessible education.
We serve students with a variety of learning differences, like dyslexia, throughout the Staten Island and New York City area. However, our school is not just reserved for those with learning differences. We are a free public school, meaning students of all learning levels can attend. Our Science of Reading curriculum is based on research-backed methods like the Orton-Gillingham approach and meets the needs of students with many academic needs.
Bridge Preparatory Charter School creates programs for students who struggle to learn in a traditional classroom setting. Through unique coursework and longer school days, students receive the assistance they need to learn and grow efficiently. Students can access all this and more without leaving the Staten Island/NYC area.

To apply, families must enroll their child in our admission lottery. Children not selected then go onto our waitlist. We contact families throughout the year as seats open.
